Another week done, another week closer to Syndicate. This coming week is big (to me, at least) with the launch of the aforementioned Syndicate and the PS Vita. I'm stoked to get my hands on the Vita and Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Also, Alan Wake's American Nightmare comes out on XBLA for week two of their "House Party" promotion! So, I'll be rather busy this week (yay!) with new releases. On that, let's get to some things that me smile, laugh, frown or just plain struck my fancy!
Bastion's Narrator Makes Skyrim Better

Thank you for this, Destructoid! (via Destructoid)
This game series was driven into the ground, but has recovered (we hope)
OK,
so there are things like “franchise fatigue” to consider when you
do a yearly update, but this list is just sad. Sonic has been bad
for years, but recently made strides in the right direction. The
Sims
franchise just has an “add-on” addiction. Tony
Hawk
took a year off (after the abysmal performances of Ride
and Shred),
so that's not really fair. I'll agree on Assassin's
Creed
only. And really, that's just because they've not had a full sequel
in the last few years, but that changes with this October's Assassin's Creed III (see below). Missing from this list is the profitable, but
predictable, Call
of Duty
series. Seriously, every November we see a new entry and every year
it's really just more of the same. That is the hallmark of a series
that either needs to iterate, or take some time off. But we all know
that will happen when someone pries the rights to it out of Bobby
Kotick's cold, dead fists. (via Yahoo)
Court time!
It's not the blatant copying of game ideas that landed the social
games giant in hot water. No, it's the processes running under the
hood of those copied games. We'll see where this goes, but it
reminds me of the Apple patent suits trying to outlaw all mobile
devices but theirs. We'll just have to wait and see. (via GameInformer)
Finally getting a numbered sequel!
Holy
crap! Fans have known that the next game in the series was underway,
but the lack of any leaked info seemed to point to an Assassin-free
year. Not so, apparently. Ubisoft announced on Wednesday that the
third numbered installment of the series would be out 30 October

This needs a sequel!
Awww...
I know Notch said not to get too excited about Pyschonauts
2,
but I couldn't help it (and I'm sure a great many feel the same).
Notch released a letter today that basically said, “This is
difficult, and will cost more than I thought.” He goes on to say
to be patient, but that the project probably won't happen for a long
while. Dangit! (via Joystiq)
Best of luck in your new endeavors, Mr Karpyshyn!
Best
of luck to Drew Karpyshyn as he leaves Bioware to “focus on
non-video game related projects.” He'll still be in touch with
Bioware and will probably still have a hand in the universes he
helped create. (via Game Informer)
After
Eat Sleep Play did the same last week, it's a shame to hear it
happening again. Developer Starbreeze (Chronicles
of Riddick, Syndicate)
have shrunk their staff by 25 before EA even ships their latest game.
The chairman, Peter Tornquist, resigned at the end of development.
Best of luck to those now searching for jobs. (via Joystiq)
It has girls, they fight. Sounds simple enough
That's a pretty descriptive title. Well, at least people know what
they are getting into... (via Joystiq)
