Ms Nigri is the official Juliet Starling |
I'm all for pink latex, but yeah, this
might be a bit overboard. Professional cosplayer (that is a thing)
Jessica Nigri was asked to leave PAXEast on Sunday because her outfit
was a bit too provocative. I'm sure a lot of folks didn't mind, but
enough complaints came in and she was asked to change. I'm
definitely looking forward to Lollipop Chainsaw coming later this
year! (via Kotaku)
Mr Wallace, one of the greats |
Not game related, but still a sad
passing. Truly a great journalist and one that gave the profession a
sense of legitimacy. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, good
sir. (via CNN)
More layoffs. Oh joy... |
Not necessarily tied to Sony Computer
Entertainment division, Sony announced that 10,000 jobs will be
phased out over the next year. That's a lot of layoffs, but it will
probably cover multiple divisions at Sony, not just SCE. (via
Eurogamer)
This man is responsible for the Commodore 64. Thank you, sir. |
Jack Tramiel, a founder of Commodore
International and, later, Atari, has died. The 84 year old was one
of the men responsible for the Commodore 64, Commodore 128, and the
Amiga. Much of my childhood was spent playing on our family's
Commodore 64. Those games were the first I played, and I still
played the system heavily even after I got my NES. Rest in peace,
sir. (via Game Informer)
This would be such a cool class! |
Gearbox announced the possibility of a
fifth playable class, the Mechromancer, at their panel at PAXEast.
The new character will be free to those who pre-order the game and is
an adorable gal that's part machine and her helpful friend, Death
Trap. Also announced was the inevitable special edition of the game:
a $150 loot box with a Marcus bobblehead (and other things,
presumably). I'm so excited about this game, and a new class to muck
about with is exciting! I can't wait for 18 September when the game
drops in North America! (via Game Informer)
Back from the dead! Lana and Amy get fixed. |
Well, at least they listened. Vector
Cell has released a massive patch for survival horror dud AMY that
addresses a lot of complaints. Chief among them is the save system.
Before the patch, saves only worked at start of chapters, so you had
to finish the entire chapter before quitting out. With the sparse
checkpoint system, that could mean chapters that take over an hour
were chores. Also fixed was the loss of powers and items upon death.
I personally had a death that borked an entire chapter because I
didn't have the power needed to proceed, but I couldn't backtrack for
it either. I'm pleased that Vector Cell took the criticism well and
gave fans what they wanted/needed. While it wasn't a great game, AMY
is worth checking out if you are in desperate need of a survival
horror title. (via Joystiq)
Cyberpunk action is coming back! |
Continuing the trend of Kickstarter projects making their goals swiftly, Shadowrun Returns has exceeded their original goal. Now they will add an homage to the original 16 bit game if a new goal is reached. There is still plenty of time, so I'm hopeful it will happen. And in related news, this needs to happen! The offending tank |
One of the issues with the amazing internet is that people can and will point out mistakes and lazy copy jobs. EA has been on the receiving end of this new trend twice now. First, there was Tali's face from Mass Effect 3, and now this. It seems that some artists were using Warhammer: 40,000 tanks as a "place holder." Well, leaks happen and now they are scrambling to explain the gaff. (via Game Informer)
